The value of a crisis communications plan


I may sound like a broken record, but this article - once again - shows the importance of having a viable crisis communications plan. Don't ever assume you don't need one - it could save your organization!


Think of it this way: You have a first-aid kit JUST IN CASE you have an emergency and need splints, gauze, bandaids, antiseptic cream/ointment/spray, Poison Control Center emergency number, tourniquet, and so on. You may never need the kit, but if you do you're in much better shape to deal with a medical emergency.


It's the same for your business or organization. Emergencies happen fast (thus the name), and having a viable crisis communications plan is like that first-aid kit: You can respond quickly and more effectively - and minimize fallout - with it.
